Metalmeccanica Tiberina is a company based in Umbertide (Perugia-Italy), founded in 1963 it is, in terms of dimensions and contract business, among the national top suppliers, manufacturing automotive components and off-road vehicles.
The need to increase their production led them to the purchase of three 5-axis machining centers for their plant in Umbertide that will be used for trimming, milling and drilling of aluminum structural parts for the automotive industry.
For the production of extruded aluminum components they needed reliable machining centers that could reduce processing times. For this purpose we offered them the FLA series with X axis 5500, Y axis 1800 and Z-axis 900 equipped with double independent bridge, alternate cycle and Twin Shuttle which ensures a rapid and automated changing of workpieces and easily interchangeable jigs.
The shuttles are driven by axis motors to allow fast and precise movements of the piece within the working area thus increasing the cutting capacity. Each bridge is equipped with:
– 20 positions tool change with and quick exchange and movable arms (1.5 sec), able to follow the two heads when moving from zone 1 to 2;
– 20 kW electrospindle and a maximum speed of 28,000 rpm
– Automatic feeler system
The reduction and optimization of cycle times and the experience of Belotti in the production of machining centers dedicated to these operations were the key that allowed us to fully meet the needs of our customer.
